At Kalamazoo Makerspace, our metal shop provides access to professional machining equipment that enables members to work with metal in ways that would otherwise require expensive commercial shop access. Whether you're creating custom parts, repairing equipment, or building metal projects from scratch, our facility has the tools you need.
Our metal shop features both the Herco Mill and Bridgeport Mill, giving members access to versatile milling capabilities for a wide range of projects. Combined with our metal lathes for turning operations and a metal band saw for cutting stock, you have the core equipment needed for most metalworking and machining tasks.
The metal shop is designed for members who have experience with metalworking equipment or are willing to learn. While limited training is available, members are expected to have or develop the knowledge necessary to operate the equipment safely and effectively. The space includes proper workholding equipment, measuring tools, and safety gear to support professional-quality metalworking.
